Russian president lets Mexican company acquire Germany's Ruhrpumpen subsidiary
Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a decree allowing Mexican company Industries E.G. Sociedad Anonima Promotor De Inversion De Capital Variable to acquire 99.9% of the shares in Ruhrpumpen RUS LLC, owned by Germany's Ruhrpumpen.
Presidential authorisation was required because Ruhrpumpen RUS is owned by a foreign entity from an unfriendly state and is a fuel and energy equipment manufacturer and provider of maintenance and repair services for such equipment, which means it falls within the scope of the 2022 decree on the application of special economic measures in the financial and fuel and energy sectors due to the unfriendly actions of certain foreign states and international organisations.
Mexico is not among the countries considered unfriendly to Russia.
In 2024, Ruhrpumpen RUS LLC reported a net profit of RUB 12.7 million (down from RUB 270.9 million in 2023) with revenues of RUB 1.33 billion (a 9.4% increase compared to 2023). The company is a wholesale equipment supplier.
The German company Ruhrpumpen calls itself one of the world's leading manufacturers of pumping equipment and is owned by Mexican conglomerate Corporacion EG.
