A third of foreign companies in Russia come from the Asia-Pacific region
Almost a third of foreign businesses operating in Russia today are companies with founders from the Asia-Pacific region, RIA Novosti reported, citing data from the Rusprofile service.
There are 66,800 active foreign companies registered in Russia, of which 29.1 %, or 19,450, are businesses with founders from Asia-Pacific countries: China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore and Thailand.
By comparison, at the end of 2021 about 2,600 such companies were operating in Russia, accounting for 6.6 % of all foreign businesses.
In addition, in the first half of 2026 companies from Asia-Pacific countries registered 2,760 trademarks in Russia — 15 % more than in the same period of 2025, the newspaper Vedomosti reported, citing calculations by VTB and the company Online Patent. China was the main driver of the growth: the number of trademarks registered by Chinese companies in the first half of 2026 came to more than 1,900.
