LG registers two more trademarks in Russia
The South Korean corporation LG has filed two applications to register trademarks in Russia, TASS reports, citing information from the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent).
The application was filed on 26 January by LG Electronics Inc. The ThinQ Food and Express Fill trademarks are being registered in two classes (7 and 11) of the International Classification of Goods and Services (ICGS) — dishwashers, vacuum cleaners, air conditioners, ovens and refrigerators.
In March 2022, LG suspended deliveries of its products to Russia and shut down its factory in Ruza, near Moscow. However, the company's Russian entity, LG Electronics Rus LLC, continues to operate. In November 2025, it was reported that LG had registered the LG Alpha AI Processor trademark with Rospatent. This trademark can be used for the production of microprocessor chips, microcircuits, televisions, and digital video modules.
The ongoing registration of trademarks by foreign companies that have left Russia is not uncommon, but does not indicate that they plan a quick return. Registration allows them to protect their brand rights in the long term.
In March 2025, The Korea Times reported that major South Korean corporations, including Hyundai Motor Company, LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics, were exploring the possibility of returning to the Russian market if the conflict in Ukraine was resolved and anti-Russian sanctions were lifted. As the newspaper noted, Russia is an important market with a strong preference for Korean goods and serves as a hub between Central Asia and Europe.
