Chinese company acquires 49 % in New Land Grain Corridor project
Vision Investment Limited, a Hong Kong-registered company, has acquired 49 % of Far Eastern Agro-industrial Corporation LLC (DAK), while 51 % remains with New Land Grain Corridor LLC (NSZK), which previously controlled 100 % of the company. This is reported by Kommersant, citing data from the SPARK database. The Russian-Chinese project envisages the development of farmland in the Jewish Autonomous Region.
Vision Investment Limited is a subsidiary of the investment company Golden Brick Capital Management Limited, which invests in infrastructure projects under the Belt and Road Initiative, aimed at developing China’s foreign ties. The NSZK group runs infrastructure projects in the Urals, the Far East and Siberia aimed at expanding exports of grain, pulses and oilseeds to Asia. They include the Zabaykalsk grain terminal and a project for a sea grain terminal in Vladivostok.
NSZK told Kommersant that it was too early to talk about the amount of investment planned by the Chinese partner. The project is still at the stage of drawing up a strategy and a feasibility study.
In the summer of 2025, when NSZK’s plans to grow crops became known, investment in the project was estimated at 5 billion to 7 billion rubles. DAK was registered at the same time to implement the Nizhneleninskoye–Tongjiang agro-industrial cluster. The project, it was stated, had envisaged a Chinese partner from the outset.
Nizhneleninskoye is a village in the Jewish Autonomous Region on the border with China. In 2022 a railway bridge across the Amur to Tongjiang in China was built a little to the east of it. At the first stage DAK expects to develop 200,000 hectares in the region, planting them with soyabeans, wheat, barley, oats, rapeseed and maize, NSZK says. Part of the output is planned to be exported to China.
Vision Investment Limited will most likely contribute cash to DAK’s charter capital in proportion to its stake to finance the joint project, Stanislav Mudrov, a partner in the business and asset valuation practice at the consultancy Neo, told Kommersant. In his view, the contribution could also take the form of agricultural technology and access to the Chinese market, since the Chinese side’s participation implies guaranteed sales of output. At the same time, the expert allows that the joint project may prove not especially high-margin. It will be profitable only if it involves deep processing, maximum use of preferential financing and guaranteed sales to China, he says.
