Tax Consultant (Controlled Foreign Company, Personal Income Tax)

Our company’s legal practice is rapidly expanding, and to support the implementation of new ambitious projects, we are looking for a Tax Consultant (Family Office) to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Managing projects related to the taxation of high-net-worth individuals (including beneficiaries of businesses, financial groups, and controlled foreign companies (CFC), and large asset holders).
  • Providing verbal and written consultations for high-net-worth individuals (assessing the tax implications of their transactions, including cross-border deals, and the taxation of owned assets).
  • Advising on and preparing 3-NDFL tax return forms, including determining tax residency; calculating taxable income and CFC profits; reflecting deductions and transactions with various types of income (securities, movable and immovable property, cryptocurrency, etc.); applying capital amnesty rules.
  • Advising individuals on Russian currency control regulations (e.g. implications of opening settlement bank accounts, permitted transactions, etc.).
  • Preparing all types of tax and currency reporting for individuals and advising on how to complete them (e.g. notifications of participation in foreign entities, CFC notifications, notifications of opening foreign accounts/deposits, reports on movement of funds in foreign accounts, and more).
  • Drafting legal opinions on international taxation matters concerning individuals.
  • Preparing analytical reports and informational materials for clients.
  • Reviewing and revising documents prepared by junior staff.
  • Participating in client negotiations.

Requirements

  • Completed higher education in law or economics.
  • Strong knowledge of tax law and currency legislation.
  • At least 3 years of independent experience handling similar taxation projects.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English (Intermediate level or higher).
  • Experience in supervising junior staff while managing multiple tasks.
  • Willingness to work extended hours during busy seasons.
